Endangered Species Extreme Dark Chocolate 88%

Picture 240This has got to be the darkest dark chocolate I have ever tired to date. A whopping 88% cocoa dark. Barely even sweet which I am not really use to for chocolate. Silky smooth, with an intense dark chocolate richness, but has a slight bitter aftertaste. Satisfied my chocolate craving, but not my sugar craving. Don’t really need 1/2 a bar to be satisfied. I was content with 1 to 2 square and each square is about 30-ish calories.  The whole bar consists of 15 squares that you can break apart and enjoy.  The more I ate it, the more I enjoy it. I thought dark chocolate is suppose to be good for you, but I was surprised that there are 12 grams of saturated fat per serving. Planning to melt this and make some pseudo Edible Arrangements with this since I think the sweetness from the fruit will pair nicely with this extreme 88% cocoa.

From the site:

  1. Man, I still haven’t tried those bars. Had it in my hand several times but never quite made it to the cart. Making a pseudo edible arrangement would totally float my boat!! I think I would take that over Birthday cake :). Thinks for the link :)

  2. Well I’ve heard that it needs to be at least 70% dark for there to be health benefits, so I try to get 70% or above. Currently I am eating a dark chocolate that is exactly 70% dark, but I would love to try 88%, daring! I really just wish it wasn’t so expensive. I find it difficult to pay so much for chocolate, because I go through it so fast!

  3. I’m a 70% dark person myself – although I don’t have a hankering for most things chocolate so I don’t eat it often.

  4. I usually enjoy 70% dark chocolate. I recently had some 85%, and I enjoyed it, but I went back to buying the 70%!

Thanks for the review. I really like the company info.

I have always wanted to try this brand. I love how they are so committed to protecting animals in danger and the packaging is amazing!
As for myself, I am a serious addict of ghiradelli’s 100% baking chocolate. I can’t help it, it is just so intense and awesome :D

  6. WHOA! That is intense indeed!
I’m a wimp and not a dark chocolate person. I prefer (gasp) white chocolate and milk chocolate! >.<

Yum! I like dark and intense chocolate, just the way I like my coffee too. Chocolate and blueberry sounds like an amazing combo!

The darker, the better. I love myself some dark chocolate! :)

  9. I am more of a milk chocolate kind of gal but definitely don’t hate the dark stuff ;)

  10. It depends on the brand of chocolate, but I usually like mine pretty dark as well. Any chocolate is yummy to me :) might as well get the antioxidants too! I love endangered species brand, and it has such a great cause too!
